Deacon James Edward Harrison was born January 12, 1929 to Albert Harrison and Sirlila Mclver in Hartville, South Carolina. He transitioned Saturday March 5, 2022 at 92 years young. He attended the Hartsville County School and served in the US Army at Fort Jackson SC. He received a Korean Service Metal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and a United Nations Service medal. He was employed at Douglas Battery where he served dutifully for 33 years before retiring in 1991.
Deacon Harrison was a faithful member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church for 30 plus years. He was a prayer warrior and a Sunday School teacher and was superintendent of the Sunday School for 20 plus years. He knew Scripture and their location and shared them with everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Elizabeth Harrison; beloved son, Roderick Harrison; beloved grandson, Damon Tucker; and brother, Arthur Lee Douglas.
He leaves not to mourn but to cherish many memories four daughters, Hattie Adams, Christine Covington, Monica Eller and Pamela Harrison (Charles) all of the city; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, friends and his church family.
There will be no public viewing.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at 2:00pm in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
