James Edward Davis Jr. "Jimmy", 70 transitioned from this life at his home in Winston-Salem unexpectedly on Sunday, September 1, 2019.

Jimmy was born in Winston-Salem, NC on July 24, 1949 and was a lifelong resident of the area.  He retired with 40 years of service from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a Control Operator and was rewarded for outstanding attendance for many consecutive years. Jimmy graduated from North Forsyth High School and also attended North Carolina A&T University.

Jimmy enjoyed many things during his lifetime including bowling, listening to music, collecting music and gadgets, and spending time with his family and loved ones.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward Davis Sr. and Dorothy Wright Davis; and brothers, Zegary L. Davis, Orlando Wright Davis, and Cedric T. Davis.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Roslyn Davis; daughters, Nakida McDaniel (Niam Moore), Porchia Conner (Willie Conner, Jr.), and LaSha Davis Robinson (Michael Robinson);   step-daughter, Richelle Morrison; grandchildren, Nasir McDaniel-Moore, Nigel McDaniel Moore, Niah McDaniel-Moore, Willie Leon Conner, III, and Serenity Noel Conner; step-grandchildren, Richaad Dodd, Michael Dodd, and Myrick Dodd; step-great granddaughter, Jordyn Dodd; brothers, Tyrone Davis (Grace Davis) and Rodney Davis; sisters, Carolyn Neal, Linda Moore, and Cynthia Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, including a dedicated niece, Sharon Coker.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Tony Neal officiating.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 2:30pm on Saturday at the Chapel.
