Mr. James E. Dalton, 88, of Winston-Salem died Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born April 21, 1932 in Winston-Salem, NC to Ernest and Inez Dalton. He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Walkertown and had been a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
He is survived by a son, James Calvin Dalton (Tanya) of Stafford, VA; two daughters, Pamela Hairston (Charles) of Winston-Salem, NC and Wendy D. Buie (Earl) of Virginia Beach, VA; two loving siblings, Lillie Clark of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Senator Robert Lee Dalton (Lovie) of Baltimore, MD; five grandchildren, Toya Coleman (Terrell), Ciji Wright (Tony), Jason Dalton (Shauna), Justin Hairston and Qynton Buie; seven great- grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also, left to cherish his memories are the residents at Creekside Terrace and the wonderful staff at Salem Kidney Center. The family wishes to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Christopher Marshall, Regina Nelson, Alene Marshall and his southside neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Lettie T. Dalton; and two sisters, Ernestine Broadnax and Willie Mae Anthony.
Public Viewing Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 1:00 PM-5:00PM at Russell Funeral Home, 822 Carl Russell Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
