Obituary

A great man, James Authur "JUICY" Butler, formally of 1396 Dublin Dr., will be laid to rest.  On Monday, November 18, 2019, Mr. Butler transitioned from his earthly home after a short period of illness.  HE was born August 31, 1942 to the late Robert and Lillian Butler.  "Juicy", as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the Forsyth County School System.  After graduating from Atkins High School Class of 1961, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, multiple campaigns in support of the Vietnamese War.  James was a knowledgeable, meticulous, and valuable employee working 38 years for RJ Reynolds America and 10 years for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System as a school bus driver.

James loved people and people loved him.  He was a very active supporter of the Winston-Salem State University Rams, traveling to every game home and away.  He was a life-time member of the American Legion Post #220, past Exalted Rulers' of Camel City Elk Lodge #1021, and member of the Masonic Community.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Louis Butler.

James leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 55 years, Delores Hay Butler of the home; James fathered 5 children, Ethel Cloud, Dwain Butler, Debbie (Randy) Smith, and Mavis Butler all of the city, and Mark Butler of Marietta, GA; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Charles Butler, Jesse Butler, and Kelvin J. Smith all of the city, and John K. Smith of Morristown, NJ; three sisters, Rosa Shepherd and Traci (Ken) Miller of the city, and Alberta Wilson of Detroit, MI; two brothers-in-law, George (Inez) Goodwine of Atlanta, GA and Glenn (Lucinda) Goodwine of the city; a close and loving aunt, Maebrel Vance; devoted family members, Catherine Butler and Leenola Nesbitt; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

We will never forget saying, "You are going to miss me one day," and we truly do.
