Mr. James Henry Brown, 84, was born June 15, 1930 to Mack Henry and Mary Eliza Brown. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center.

James was a graduate of Carver High School, attended NC A&T State University, and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. He was retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after 30 years of service and Car Quest Auto Supply after 15 years of service. Mr. Brown was a faithful member of Phillips Chapel Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board and within other committees and activities.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John W. Brown; and his sister, Mary E. Brown.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kathy Brayboy-Brown; his children, James H. Brown, II and Dr. Nicole Brown Dove (Michael); grandchildren, James H. Brown, III, Cierra Brown, and Ella Grace Dove; great-grandchildren, Reniya Brown, Monica and Khali Russell; sisters, Dr. Sadie B. Webster (James) and Lillie Brown Wilson; sisters-in-law, Dr. Shirley B Moutry (Johnny) and Dianna B. Caldwell; brothers-in-law, Oscar Brayboy, Jr. (Betty) and Dennis Brayboy (Genieve); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, October 3, 2014 at Phillips Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Chad Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
