Obituary
Mr. James Blakes, 88, of Alspaugh Dr. passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013. He was born May 25, 1925 to the late Harley Derry and Lizzy Gibson.
Mr. Blakes was a veteran of the US Navy, served in WWII, and was a retiree of the Central YMCA of W-S, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margaret McCleod Blakes; two sons, Ralph and Ricky Blakes; and one granddaughter, Margaret "Sheila" Blakes.
He leaves to cherish his most memorable moments with three sons and one daughter, Walter, Mary, Johnny Lee (Yolanda), and Randolph Blakes; and a host of grandchildren, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Saturday at the Chapel.
