Mr. James "JT" Tillmon Barber, Sr., 90, peacefully departed this earthly life March 27, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born July 4, 1923 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Fine Elliott Barber and Minnie McCullough Hart Barber.

"JT" attended school in York County, SC and was a US Army Veteran having served in World War II. He was an employee of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company and retired in 1983 after 31 years of service.

He was married to the late Videll Sewell Barber for 53 years. He was a founding member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Deacon Board, Usher Board, Sunday School Department, and Spiritual Choir.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and caring children, James Tillmon Barber, Jr. of the home and Anita Barber Ingram of Charlotte, NC; 1 brother, Lewis Calvin "LC" (Alma Mae) Barber of Edgemoor, SC; 1 adopted sister, Minnie Lee Agurs of Rock Hill, SC; devoted caregiver, Gloria Little; special friends, Sallie McFadden and Mary Phillips; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Nathan Scovens officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.
