James William Anderson

February 23, 1923 - February 28, 2024

James William Anderson was born in Tipton, GA to Paul Anderson and Anna Lee Williams.

He attended public school in Winston Salem, NC. As a young adult he moved to New York City to be with his siblings. He worked as a printer for many years before retiring. William enjoyed cooking, talking with friends, fishing and listening to politics, news and gospel music. He had a great memory and he would tell funny and loving stories about his parents, his siblings and his wife, Mary who preceded him in death.

After a brief illness he died at New York Presbyterian Hospital. The Lord blessed Uncle as he was called by special friends with a long life, and he was thankful. He appreciated the help from Doris Joyner and Dr. Kasey Joyner whom he called his nieces; Eddie Cumberland who was like a brother; his apartment supervisor, Ms. Michel Vives; and a precious caregiver, Ms. Agatha Licorish. He was a very nice person and he will be missed.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30pm Thursday, March 7, 2024 in Evergreen Cemetery, Winston-Salem, NC.
