Obituary

Ms. Jacqueline "Jackie" Hunt Witherspoon Nunn, 86, was born on February 1, 1938, in Winston-Salem, NC to Jarvis Sylvester and Bessie Barker Hunt.  Jackie gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, March 21, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Richard Hunt, Bronal L. Hunt, Robert L. Hunt and William R. Hunt; great-grandson, Dayquain Blackwell and great-great granddaughter, infant Ya'mani Blackwell.

Jackie's early years were spent in Winston - Salem, North Carolina, where she attended Atkins High School and later Forsyth Technical Institute.  She also cherished her time as a junior majorette with the Winston Salem State University marching band as well as a majorette for Atkins High School.

Before uniting with Union Baptist Church, Jackie was a former member of Goler Memorial AME Zion Church where she actively served on various committees and ministries.  She generously assisted with preparing Bible Study lunches for participants at Goler and meals for the Sunday Café.  Jackie's love for performance was evident in her role as director and producer of the theatrical production of "God's Trombones" for the dance ministry at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church. Jackie was deeply committed to serving her community. Lastly, she served as a poll worker for the Forsyth County Board of Election.

After a dedicated career spanning 34 years, Jackie retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.  In retirement, her passion for travel led her to become a Cruise Director for Cruise Connection. Additionally, she pursued her love for cake decorating and catering, establishing Fantasy World Catering.
Jackie is survived by her loving and caring daughters, Paula Blackwell (Ronnie) of the city, Robin Witherspoon of Lewisville, NC, Tonette Crowell (Wayne) of the city, and Karen Witherspoon of Lewisville, NC; eight grandchildren, Jacques Grace (Kelly), Paris Crowell, Sandra Blackwell Neal (Deshawn), Wayne Crowell Jr., Tony Gorham, Brittany Witherspoon Smith, Shanika Candalora (Kevin), and Tameka Blackwell; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Doris D. Hunt, Sandra Witherspoon, Phyllis Witherspoon, Audrey Witherspoon, and Virginia Abbott; bonus grandson, Antione Martin; bonus daughters, Hattie Green, Shantell McClam, Sidonna Brown, and Angela Daniels; special niece, Julie Gregory; along with a host of nieces, nephews,  extended family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Union Baptist Church with Bishop Dr. Sir Walter Mack officiating.  Intermnet will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
