Obituary

Mr. Isaiah Willie Gwynn, Sr. was born on February 13, 1918 to Anderson Gwynn and Maude Hairston. He yielded to the call of God on Monday, December 17, 2012. He was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

He was an active member of Shouse Temple CME Church where he served on the Willing Workers, Steward Board, Missionary Society, and as the Sunday School Superintendent at one time. He served on the Deacon Board, was very active with the Senior Choir, and was very helpful at the church while his health permitted.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Lorenzo Brooks and Isaiah "Bill" Gwynn, Jr.; and one daughter, Louise Floyd.

Isaiah is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Galloway with whom he resided, Dorothy Ducksworth, and Juanita Clark all of the city; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Reverend JW Velma McCullough; one daughter-in-law, Maxine M. Gwynn of the city; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; and The Reverend James Tillman and the Shouse Temple Church Family.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 2:30pm until 3pm on Friday at the funeral home.
