Isaac Fred Pitts, Sr. was born on Tuesday, May 16, 1939, in Winston-Salem, NC to James and Bertha Pitts who both preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his siblings, James Cornell Pitts, Harvey Pitts, Thomas Pitts, Benjamin Pitts, and Willie Joe Pitts. Isaac went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

Isaac attended public schools and graduated from Paisley High School. He married Margaret L. Pitts in 1963. He was a dedicated and loving father to his children, William, Isaac, Jr., and Tammy. He and his ex-wife remained friends until her death in 2009. After his grandson, Brandon, was born he was a proud grandfather and made him his adoptive son.

Isaac served his country from November 26, 1958 to February 27, 1962 when he was honorably discharged. He had a long career with the United States Postal Service and then continued working at the North Carolina School of the Arts and in General Services for Forsyth County.

Isaac was a long-time devoted member of the St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served tirelessly as an Usher, Class Leader, and Trustee. He was also an active member of Sunday School and various choirs. He worked as church custodian for many years where he took extreme pride in his duties by using it as his ministry to honor God's house of worship and keep it in impeccable order. He was dedicated to excellence in all he did, and he was committed to his church and used his talents to glorify God and enrich those around him with God's love. He unselfishly served in many capacities at his church which demonstrated his love for Christ, his church, its mission, and services to the surrounding community.

Isaac leaves to cherish loving memories his two sons, Isaac (Bridgett) Pitts, Jr. and William (Gail) Roberts; a daughter, Tammy Denean Pitts; his grandson he adopted, Brandon Pitts; a bonus daughter, Sherina Bunch; a brother, Robert Pitts, Sr.; a sister, Jeanette P. Wells; a sister-in-law, Bernice Pitts; a devoted and long-time friend, Gwendolyn Hall; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Monday, April 7, 2025 at St. John CME Church. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12:00noon on Monday at the Church.
