Mrs. Irene Doris Poteat Burnette of 617 W. 13th St., Winston-Salem, better known as "Ms Poteat," passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at her residence. She was born on June 21, 1932, in Burlington, the daughter of Pink Lewis Poteat and Linnie Mae Poteat and had lived in Winston-Salem for most of her life. She was a member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church. She is survived by her sisters, Linnie and Helen; and brother Dossie Poteat, all of Portsmouth, Va.; four sons, Jerry (Vander) Burnette, Anthony Burnette, Gregory Burnette and George (Lashonda) Burnette; special friend and devoted son Kelvin Jackson; several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at noon Tuesday, April 17, at Evergreen Cemetery.
