Obituary

Ida Clowney Hardison better known as "Tootsie" of 601 W. 13th Street went home to be with her heavenly father on Friday, May 23, 2008. She was born August 2, 1924 to Mabel Potter Clowney and Fred Clowney.

Ida attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and retired as a domestic worker for the Gene Foster Family.

She was a lifelong member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served as a former member of the Senior Choir, Chaplain of the Matilda McKinsey Missionary Circle and started the Tots Choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents and both of her sons, Hiawatha and Walter Lee Hardison.

Left to cherish her memories are her devoted daughter, Celestine Hardison; devoted sister, Dorothy Parrott; two grandchildren, Yvette Johnson and Darryl Youngblood; two great-grandchildren, Antione Johnson and devoted great-granddaughter, Lachic Johnson (Papa) Mbengue; four great-great-grandchildren, Dequante Johnson, Diamon Tirado, Antione Johnson, Jr. and Andala Mbengue; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from the Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church with Reverend William Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.
