Ian William Gervasi, 28, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Ian was born on September 24, 1997, in Winston Salem to Fontaine and Shaun Gervasi. He grew up in Winston Salem with his parents and three sisters, Olivia, Anna, and Mary Brennan, whom he loved dearly. Ian attended Mount Tabor High School and graduated from Appalachian State University in 2020. After graduation, he lived and worked in Charlotte, NC, and Plymouth, MA.
Ian had a quiet nature and a calming presence, yet he always knew how to make his friends and sisters laugh. Ian found peace in nature and frequently encouraged friends to join him outside. He chose to attend Appalachian State University so he could be in the mountains he loved, and one of his favorite jobs was working on the slopes at App Ski Mountain. Ian was a natural athlete. In his early years, he played soccer and swam competitively with a beautiful backstroke. From middle to high school, he was a skilled lacrosse player. After high school he found a passion for the gym. Ian always had a special place in his heart for his family cats; they were drawn to his gentle loving self.
Ian is survived and deeply missed by his parents, Fontaine and Shaun Gervasi of Winston Salem; his three sisters, Olivia Gervasi Todd, Anna Gervasi, and Mary Brennan Gervasi; his grandparents, Duane and Wanda Gervasi of Crumpler, NC; his grandmother, Anita Pfaff of Winston Salem; his grandmother, Lou Lee and her husband, Terry, of Albany, GA; his aunt and uncle, Mary and Andy Allen of Winston Salem; his aunt, Karen Johnson of St. Joe Beach, FL; his cousins, Jonathan and Matthew Allen of Winston Salem; as well as many extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider honoring Ian's memory by taking a walk in nature and cherishing your loved ones every day.
