Brother Hubert Allen West, Sr. was born on Thursday, September 25, 1930 to Alonzo Richmond West, Sr. and Lula Eaton West.

He was a lifelong member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, officer of the Yadkin and Davie Association, and  member of the Masonic Lodge in Mocksville, NC.  Hubert graduated as the valedictorian of the Davie County Training School class of 1949.  He worked as a  truck driver and a farmer prior to working for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company from which he retired. He completed a course in electronics.  With that knowledge, he was able to build his own radio station and broadcasted from his little shed.  He did not require the assistance from any mechanics to repair his automobiles.  He was able to do the repairs himself.  He was so good that he could listen to the vehicle and determine the cause.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents; wife, Millie C. West; brothers,  Alonzo, Edwin, Willie, John, Joe, and Benjamin; sister, Cora; and granddaughter, Katina West.

He leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy his four sons,  William (Barbara) West, Sr. of Ellenwood, GA, Hubert (Beverly) West, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC, Dennis (Dawn) West of Clemmons, NC, and Jerry West of Cary, NC; seven grandchildren, William (Nicole) West, Jr. of Arlington, TN, Natasha (Khari) Thompson of Winston-Salem, NC, Brenton (Jordan) West of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Darlene West of Clemmons, NC, Aaron (Yael) West of Bloomfield, NJ, DeWayne West of Charlotte, NC and Kabrina Lytle of Ellenwood, GA;  six great-grandchildren, Alex, Hailey and Kendall West of Arlington, TN, Lance Corporal Khari Thompson, Jr. of Cherry Point, NC, Aarron and Marya Thompson of Winston-Salem, NC; at time of his transition to his Heavenly Home, he knew that he would have another great-granddaughter, Adair, in the coming days;  he is survived by one sibling, Glenn (Margie) West of Spring Lake, NC; his in-laws, Lillie Mae Scott of Mocksville, NC,  Olivia West of Durham, NC,  Faye (Richard) Carter of Mocksville, NC, Wilbur (Amelia) Cain of Traphill, NC, Lillie West of Avon Park, FL, and Janet West of Columbus, OH; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Brother West entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Coker Stewart officiating and Reverend Allen Transou eulogist.  Interment will follow in the Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Saturday at the Church.
