Hubert Oliver Jones, 84, passed away peacefully at his home early Thursday morning, January 3, 2019.  He was born on April 10, 1934 to Willie B. and Roma O. Jones.

Hubert graduated from Carver High School, then attended North Carolina A&T before serving in the US Army.  He was a retired employee of RJ Reynolds Archer, after which he worked with his brother at Jones Chevron.  Hubert also enjoyed cutting yards for many of his family and friends.  He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church for many years, following the footsteps of his father Willie B. Jones.

In addition to his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by his son, DeMarcus Jones; and two of his brothers and their wives, James W. (Katie) Jones and Nathaniel (Rachel) Jones.

Surviving to cherish his precious memories are three sons, Derrick (Lisandra) Jones, Sr. and DeWayne (Gayle) Jones both of West Palm Beach, FL and Drew Jones of the home; three grandsons, Derrick (Cindy), Jr., William and Malcolm Jones both of West Palm Beach, FL; one great-grandson , Chance DeMarcus Jones of West Palm Beach, FL; three sisters, Martha Rutledge of Washington, DC, Esther (Joseph) Haggler and Hattie Jones all of Winston-Salem; five brothers, Thomas (Rosa) Jones of Ayers, MA, George (Patricia) Jones of Raleigh, NC, Odell (Roslyn) Jones, Hobart (Carolyn) Jones all of Winston-Salem, NC,  and Reginald (Kathy) Jones of Reston, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 10, 2019 at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Kendall D. Jones, Sr. and Rev. Dr. Juanita B. Tatum officiating.  The family visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Thursday at the Church.  Interment will be held at 10:00am Monday, January 14, 2019 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
