Obituary

Hubert Jeffries, Jr. was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on August 19, 1949. Hubert was known by his family and friends as "Toot "or "Tootie". Hubert was given his heavenly wings on June 24, 2026. His final days were spent surrounded by family.

Hubert graduated from Anderson High School in 1966. After graduation, he joined the US Navy in October of 1968. After leaving the Navy in November of 1973, Hubert continued his education at Forsyth Technical Community College, where he received a certification in Plumbing, Welding, and Heating and Air. Throughout his life he worked various jobs including Winston-Salem Journal, and RJ Reynolds Tobacco company, where he dedicated 30+ years. Toot was a hard worker and was devoted to taking care of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Lee and Hubert Jeffries, Sr.; grandson, Bryson Farmer; mother and father-in-law, James and Ruth Hood; and sisters-in-law, Janey Berry and Clara Clyburn.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 52 years, Queenesther E. Jeffries; son, Phillip (Torrelle) Jeffries; daughter, Erin Jeffries; son-in-law, Twoine Taylor; grandchildren, Aniya Mari, Phillip Jeffries, Jr., Kaliah and Calissa Farmer; sister, Norma White; brothers-in-law, George (Janice) Powell and James Clyburn, Sr.; nieces, Crystal Evans, Jennifer (Doug) Harbison, Tammy, Ester, and Louise Clyburn, and Keauna (Elbert) Ford, III; nephews, Robert (Jilliene) Drayton, James Clyburn, Jr., and Tracis Crawford; cousin, Marshall (Cynthia) Jeffries, Sr.; along with a host of cousins, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, July 6, 2026 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Monday at the Church.
