Obituary
Mr. Howard Estes Bates passed away unexpectedly on December 17th, 2010. Mr. Bates was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel L. Wilson, Sr.
Mr. Bates was a member of Calvary Moravian church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William Bates.
Mr. Bates is survived by a brother, Samuel (Cynthia) Wilson, Jr.; six sisters, Shirley (Walter) Hairston, Sr., June (Donnell) Warren, Gail (Anthony) Farmer, Sandra (Roderic) Young, Sr., Mary (Johnnie) Holley, Gladys (Matthew Berry) Wilson, all of the city, and a sister, Sherry (Gerry) Spurgeon-O'Leary of Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Bates also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00pm Monday, December 20, 2010 at Calvary Moravian Church with The Rt. Reverend Lane Sapp officiating. Inurnment will follow in God's Acre in Salem. The family visitation will be held from 2:30pm until 3:00pm on Monday at the church.
