Elder Horace Anthony Wilson, Sr. was called to rest on Thursday, September 29, 2022. Elder Wilson was born on February 4, 1952 to the late Woodrow, Sr. and Caroline Wilson. As a youth, his parents taught him to be obedient, respectful, and responsible. Elder Wilson attended Fourteenth Street Elementary, Atkins High School, and Forsyth Technical Community College.
In 1972, he served his country in the United States Army as a Private First Class soldier. He executed his duties with pride and dignity. After returning to civilian life, he became employed by RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. He retired after 30 plus years. He was also an insurance agent for Primerica Financial Services.
Elder Wilson was a devoted member of Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church where he served as first Elder, Sabbath school teacher, pathfinder deputy director and drill sergeant, religious Liberty Leader, personal ministries assistant, sound room technician, men ministries leader, leather craft instructor, Bible worker and co-family life leader. Elder Wilson loved the Lord and was determined to live by His Holy Word.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow B. Wilson, Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Rochester Damon, Sr.
Elder Horace Anthony Wilson, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara Wilson; three children, Tabatha (Kevin) Jones, Tiffanni A. Wilson, and Horace A. Wilson, Jr.; three grandchildren, Cassandra Peterson, Kholi J. Jones, and Katelyn A. Wilson.; four siblings, Aaron (Reahilda) Hunter, Sr., Rosa Damon, Joann Stimpson, and Craig M. Wilson; sisters-in-law, Evelina Moore and Clara Wilson; and a host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2:00pm on Thursday at the Church.
