Herman Wayne Martin was born June 9, 1947 to Justus and Alberta Martin in Forsyth County, NC. He made his transition March 20, 2013 in Stone Mountain, GA.
He was a life-long resident of Belews Creek, NC. Herman was a graduate of Carver High School where he received all state honors in football. After graduation from high school, he was employed at RJ Reynolds-Archer. Wayne was drafted into the United States Army-July 1968. While serving in the Army, he earned several medals including a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged July 20, 1970.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Elvin, Norris, Dean, and Justice Martin.
Survivors include a devoted sister, Camille Martin Graves; devoted nephew, Derrick (Michelle) Martin of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. James F. Linville officiating and Rev. John Hairston eulogist. Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Belews Creek, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Chapel.
