Mr. Herbert H. Gaddy, 81, of 1600 Mansfield St., affectionately known as "Hub", departed this life on Thursday, September 26, 2013. He was born to the late James Fency Gaddy and Jennie Leak Gaddy on April 2, 1932 in Wadesboro, NC.

Herbert was a retiree of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was a loving and devoted father who enjoyed watching old Western movies, CNN and selling watermelons.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James F. Gaddy Jr. and George Robert Gaddy; four sisters, Ollie Mae Hollis, Ruth (Homer) Richardson, Ellen Ramos, and Elizabeth Gaddy; and a grandson, Malik D. McCoy.

Herbert is survived by sons, Wilbert L., Herbert S., Milton F. (Dianne), Gregory, Darryl (Audrey) Gaddy and Ricardo Hines; daughters, Stephanie L. (Stephen) McCoy of Washington D.C., Alicia (Joel) Stanback and Sherrie Cook; he is also survived by former wife and mother of his children, Margaret Hill; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; he leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Catherine Madden of Long Island, NY and Mary Hairston of W-S, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Goodwill Baptist Church, Clemmons, NC with Reverend Michael Gaddy officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Tuesday at the Church.
