Henry Thomas Carter, age 83, of Winston Salem, NC entered his heavenly rest on February 24, 2024. Henry was born June 23, 1940, to the late Luther Carter & Geneva Flowers. Henry was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Myers and Thomas Barnes; daughter, Paula Rook; and half-sisters, Mrs. Frankie Morant and Mrs. Jackie Archie.

Henry was a lifetime resident of Winston Salem where he attended the local high school, Atkins. He retired from R. J Archer after 31 years of employment. Following his retirement, he went to work for Lutheran Church for additional 8 years.

Henry was a faithful member of Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church for 14 years, where he served on the Trustee Board.

Left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife, Dorothy Carter of Kernersville, North Carolina; his brother, Alfred Flowers (Lakesha) of Winston Salem, North Carolina; and one half-sister, Mrs. Carolyn Nickens of Mesa, Arizona. Henry is survived by his 5 children, William (Linda) Carter of Winston Salem, NC, Karen Ingram-Carter of Pfafftown, North Carolina, Denise (Robert) Harris of Pfafftown, North Carolina, Billie McCloud of Kernersville, North Carolina, and Pamela Carter of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a loving church family.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 2651 Buchanan Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12:00noon until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Church.
