"A Man Who Lived Life Fully and Loved Completely" Henry Banks entered this world on February 28, 1917 and transitioned from this world on July 22, 2010. All of these 93 years, he lived fully as a man of Faith, Conviction, Wisdom, Patience and Compassion. In this city he was one of the most gifted shoe repairmen.
He was a devout member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board, in the Laymen's League, on the Usher Board and was an active participant in Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, Bible Study and most of the Senior events hosted. Henry Banks loved helping and supporting others, especially youth in his community to, find their purpose in life to live it faithfully. We celebrate his Love, Legacy and Living.
Henry Banks was honored as one of the member so of the Flight of Honor honoring World War II Veterans.
His passion was his faith, his marriage of 55 years to Alice Banks who preceded him with her transition in 2005, his family of six children: Annette Banks Squire [Ernest], Henry Nathaniel Banks, Osofo Kwesi Atta (born Calvin J. Banks) [Afua], Phyllis Banks Butler [Vincent], Sheila Banks Astrop [Henry], and Bryce Kinard Banks who precede him in his transition. His passion for family extended further to relatives from Chipley and Jacksonville, Florida; his 21 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of in-laws than span breadth of this country. His family extended to persons living in 5100 Hunt Park Complex.
