Helene Felicia King was born in Alexandria, VA to the late John and Olivia Snyder on May 13, 1937.

Helene graduated from Parker-Gray High School. She met the love of her life Bernard King and married him on September 6, 1957. From this beautiful union their daughter LaFaye was born.

In her late adulthood, she was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Helene was a loving wife, mother, friend and adoring grandmother to her three granddaughters. If there was anything you needed or wanted, she would get it done.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, LaFaye Short (James); her three granddaughters, Olivia Short (Harolyn), Jessica Compton (Ronnie) and Julia Agwu (Victor); two great grandchildren, Elijah Compton and Maya Agwu; aunt and sister-in-law, Doris King (Kenneth); sister-in-law, Julia Freeman; brother-in-law, Samuel King; godchild, Tahnia Cosby; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, September 20, 2024 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 7836 Fordson Road, Alexandria, VA 22306. Interment will follow in Snowden & Bethlehem Memorial Gardens, 1900 Collingwood Road, Alexandria, VA 22308. The family visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Friday at the Church. Russell Funeral Directors are in charge of local arrangements and Reese Funeral Professionals, 311 North Patrick Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 are in charge of final arrangements.
