Mrs. Helen M. Howard, 85, of 1500 East Sedgefield Drive passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Winston-Salem, NC born on September 26, 1930 to the late Lutney Tillman and Leona Burris. She lived in Winston-Salem her entire life. She was employed by Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System for 21 years.
Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her former spouse, Johnnie J. Howard; her son, Gaddy Little, Jr.; and sister, Mildred Meekins.
She is survived by five daughters, Brenda (James) Evans, Arnetha Kimbrough, and Rosalyn Howard all of the city, Nancy (Terence) Henderson of FL, and Phyllis (Talben) Pope of Texas; one sister, Anne Hairston of the city; a devoted grandson, Joshua J. Howard of Texas; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, May 20, 2016 at St. Peter's Church and World Outreach Center with Bishop James C. Hash, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
