Mrs. Helen Scales Eaton passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2009. She was born on June 6, 1931 to the late William and Alverta P. Scales. She attended the public schools in Winston-Salem. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Louis McKinley, Sr.; her son, Calvin Ray Eaton; her infant granddaughter, Beverly Louise Eaton; sister, Ruby Wilds; and brother, Thomas Leon. She leaves to cherish her memories; her children, Brenda (Curtis) Smith, Louis McKinley, Jr., and Sandra Eaton; four brothers, Rev. James (Johnnie) Scales, David (Sharon) Scales, Ernest (Thomasina) Gardener, and Donald (Odessa) Scales; 11 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Homegoing Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 from Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Stacey L. Frazier officiating and the Rev. Lawrence Carvana, eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1 p.m. on Monday at the Church.
