Helen Darnell Davis, 63, departed this earth January 7, 2010 at the Wake Forest University/ Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Davis was born in Mount Airy, NC to Helen & Granville Rawley.
Mrs. Davis was a product of the Surry County School system having graduated from J. J. Johnson High School. She also pursued various continuing education courses. Helen Davis was a founding member of Hope of Glory Fellowship Church where she was lovingly called "Ms D". She faithfully served in that ministry in varied capacities until her health checked her activities. She was well known for her gifts in the kitchen, especially her baking. Her smile, infectious laugh and quiet dignity were a blessing to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Luther Davis; one daughter, India Davis; four brothers and three sisters; and a host of other family members and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held at Noon Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Hope of Glory Fellowship Church, 4500 Peachtree St, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 with Reverend Helen S. Glenn officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11am until Noon on Tuesday at the Church.
