Helen Gertrude Fair Covington was born June 24, 1946 at Kate Bitting Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Evelina Brown Fair and Waddell Alexander Fair, Sr.

Helen was educated in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System, a graduate of Paisley Senior High School. She attended Winston-Salem State University and graduated from Forsyth Technical Institute. Through her educational background, Helen gained employment as an auditor for the IRS.

She adored the love of her life, her husband, Archie Covington. Helen dearly loved her family, taking trips and going shopping especially with her grandchildren.

Helen Covington was a life-long and faithful member of Macedonia Worship Center until her health declined where she served as a Deaconess.

Helen Fair Covington was preceded in death by her parents, Evelina Brown Fair and Waddell Alexander Fair, Sr.; her grandmother, Cornella Brown; brothers, Abraham Fair, James Edward Brown, Luther A. Fair, Sr., and Waddell A. Fair, Jr.; sisters, Ida Mae Fair Petree, Olivia A. Fair, and Doretha Fair Marshall; her sister-in-law, Shirley Weeks Fair; and a very special and close niece, Cheryl Denise Smith.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband and caregiver, Archie Covington; her sons, Ricky Fair (Faith) and William E. Moore, Jr. both of Salisbury, NC; bonus son, Anthony Covington (Ericka) of Baltimore, MD; two bonus daughters, Audrey Lane (Ernest) of High Point, NC and Melanie Fabiyi (Segun) of Upper Marlboro, MD; a very special granddaughter, Ebony; grandchildren, Eric, Juan, Romello and Justice; bonus grands, Brittany, Kennedy, Carter, Arrington, and Dominic; a host of great-grandchildren; one brother, William Lee Fair, Sr.; special nieces, Melinee Petree Lytle, Barbara Jean Petree West (William), Ida K. Scott (Arthur), Lori Jackson (Neville), and Marcella Kendall (Larry); nephews, Lawrence J. Smith, Jr. and Henry Marshall (Denise); a special great-niece, Tyra Chikchaoui; and a host of other relatives, nieces and nephews, friends and church family.

THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC VIEWING

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, August 14, 2026 at Macedonia Worship Center. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm Friday at the Church.
