Mrs. Helen Spann Conner was born September 21, 1926 in Forsyth County, NC to David Shouse and Mary Spann.  She departed this earthly life on September 26, 2019.

Helen attended the W-S/Forsyth County Public Schools and was a graduate of Winston-Salem Teachers' College (Winston-Salem State University) where she received her degree in education.  After many years of dedication to our youth, she retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.  She was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church until her health declined.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Conner; son, Terry Spann; and her sister, Ophelia Glenn.

Left to cherish her memories and continue her legacy are her daughter, Beverly (Albert) Walker; son, John Conner; grandchildren, A. Michelle Mayes, Andre Conner, and David Conner; great-grandchildren, E. Chemiah Leach, Aniyah Mayes, Andre Conner, Jr., and Arnasia Conner; great-great-grandchild, Zion Leach Green; sister, Naomi Lone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Piney Grove Baptist Church.  The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Tuesday at the Church.
