Hector Cox, III., was born January 19, 1956 to Mr. Hector and Bertha Cox in Latta, SC. He departed this life on October 6, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. Hector, affectionately known as "Ray", grew up in Baltimore until the tender age of 16 at which time he moved to Winston-Salem, NC. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Armed Forces, there he received an honorable discharge. After leaving the Armed Forces he began to work with his father as a concrete finisher.
Ray received Christ at an early age.
He was preceded in death by his mothers, Bertha David and Edith Cox; brothers, Paul H. and Gilbert C.; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Ray leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Tiffany Baker; grandchildren, Marcus, Milven, Chelsea, Cameron, and Kyla all of Winston-Salem, NC; his father, Hector Cox of W-S, NC; the love of his life, Dolly Y. Topping; brothers, Joseph (Vicky), Johnny (Lynda), Larry (Jean) of W-S, NC, Morris (Bevian), Tommy, Micheal of Baltimore, MD; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday, October 10, 2011 at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Benbow Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery, East Bend, NC. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 2pm on Monday at the Church.
