Hazel Berdine Stanback was born July 24, 1932 to Nathaniel Maxfield and Roberta Barnes in Winston-Salem, NC. Hazel went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 29, 2007.
She was educated within the Forsyth County school system where she learned her trade as a skilled seamstress. Hazel was married to Thomas Stanback for 23 years where she was a faithful military wife. In 2001, she retired from Stein Mart and continued to be a committed seamstress to her customers through her own business. Throughout the many years, Hazel Stanback was the matriarch of her family where she constantly gave her love, wisdom, and direction. She will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Nathaniel Stanback.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children; Sylvia Timmons of Albany, NY, Sharon (Julius) Chapman of Upper Marlboro, MD, Thomas (Cecilia) Stanback of Melbourne, FL, Paul Stanback Sr., Paula (Ansante) Arnette, Sebrina (James) Little, Timothy Stanback, Auna Stanback all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Andre' (Kimberly) Stanback of Fredericksburg, VA; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday, November 2, 2007 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm Friday at the church.
