Harry Lee Smith was born April 13, 1935 in Winston-Salem, NC to Walter and Fannie Wade Smith. Harry was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was a graduate of Carver High School and was offered a basketball scholarship to St. Augustine College. He decided to attend Winston-Salem Teachers College (Winston-Salem State University). Harry was an avid Wake Forest sports fan and loved working in his yard. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Holiness Church of God where he served on the Deacon Board.
Harry was employed as a sales representative for Pfaff's Inc. where he retired after 35 years of dedicated service.
Harry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elois Watts Smith; four brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by three devoted children, Regina (James) Turner, Reginald (Vanessa) Smith, and Janice (Ronald) Ragins; five grandchildren, Katrena (Bill) Hayes, Jr., Kevin Turner, Courtney (Robert) Johnson, Jr., Rahni and Jarrett Ragins; nine great-grandchildren, Khaliq and Kamaria Hayes, Kameron, Kai, Breylan, and Rylan Turner, Robert, III, Cooper, and Jaiden Johnson; sister, Fannie Mae Williams; a special nephew, Norvell Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Macedonia Holiness Church of God. The family visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 2:30pm on Sunday at the Church. Interment will be held at 12noon Monday, March 3, 2025 in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
