Harold Thomas McDonald, 64 loving father, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Silas Creek Manor of Winston-Salem, NC. He was a former resident of 236 Azalea Terrace. He was born September 29, 1944 in Winston-Salem, NC to Carlyle James McDonald and Odessa Covington McDonald.
He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System and was a former employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his older brother, Carlyle James McDonald, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory one devoted brother, William H. (Betty) McDonald; one beloved sister, Margie (Marquis) Pitts; a step-grandmother, Bessie Covington of Flushing, NY; one son, Darryl Thomas McDonald; two daughters, Tonya (Bernard) Taylor, and Tamela McDonald; and an uncle, Joseph Covington and a loving and devoted cousin, Mayneal Manning; four devoted nieces, Phyllis (Charles) Smith, Tarsha (Chad) Shore, Renee McDonald, and Margie (Victor) McCummings, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a niece, Carllett McDonald; and many other relatives and friends all of Winston-Salem, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Monday January 12, 2009 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Todd Fulton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm Monday at the funeral home. The family can be contacted at the home of his brother, William H.
