Harding Alexander Cross Jr. was born July 3, 1942 in Lexington, North Carolina to the late Harding and Viola Cross Sr.  He departed this life on May 14, 2021.

Harding was  a member of New Smith Grove Baptist Church in Lexington NC, where he served faithfully for many years as Sunday School Superintendent & Adult Class Teacher. He implemented Vacation Bible School and the Annual Sunday School picnic.

Harding graduated from NC A&T State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology and a Master's Degree in Driver & Traffic Safety. He was an educator for 35 years. He taught in Halifax County, VA., Harnett County, NC and Winston Salem Forsyth County where he retired at Carver High School.

Preceding Harding in death is his brother, Charles Cross Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his devoted wife of 51 years, Janice Cross; daughter, Jenee Mock (Gerald); son, Harding A. Cross III; sister, Barbara Giles (Russell); brother, Jerald Cross (Terri); three grandchildren, Alexis Daniely, Harding A. Cross IV, Alise Cross; a special aunt, Floscene Hill, of Wilmington, Delaware; a special nephew, Charles Cross Jr.; three brothers-in-law, Larry Elliott (Viola), Keith Elliott, and Patrick Elliott; two sisters-in-law, Eulastine King and Linda Dunn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Friday, May 21, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC.
