Hamlin Waymon Jones was born on November 14, 1925. He was the oldest of thirteen children born to the late Mr. Willie Bush and Mrs. Earlean Felder Jones. He departed from this life on January 1, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Waymon, affectionately known as "Preacher", was a native of Forsyth County and was educated in the public school system, graduating from Atkins High School. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a retired employee of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company.
In addition to his parents, "Preacher" was preceded in death by his son, Steven Jones of NY; and four sisters, Hattie Ruth Jones, Willie Mae Witherspoon, Dorothy Lee Sansbury, and Dorothy Mae Jones.
Fond memories will be cherished by his wife, Molene Jones; two sons, Waymon Jones, Jr. and Bryan Kelly Jones; two daughters, Joslyn D. Diop and Wanetta A. Jones of NY; four sisters, Mary J. Woodard, Ernestine J. Simington, Mildred J. Price, and Gwendolyn J. Brown all of W-S, NC; four brothers, Sampson Jones of Washington, DC, Charlie (Gladys) Jones, James (Ramona) Jones and Melvin Jones all of W-S, NC: ones sister-in-law, Nellie Rose (Ralph) Horne of NY; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 12noon Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Angela Elder-Stimpson officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Chapel.
