Obituary

Reverend Halbert O'Neal Richardson was the fifth child of the late Elizabeth Richardson and John Richardson, born in Rockingham, NC on January 26, 1955. He departed this earthly life on December 23, 2015. He attended Richmond County public schools until 1967 when his family moved to Winston-Salem, NC. He completed his education at Parkland Senior High School class of 1973. He continued his secondary education and graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College with a degree in electrical installation in 1975.

He married the love of his life Violet Rochelle Scruggs on August 30, 1975 and to this union three children were born: Delisa Yvette, Halbert, Jr., and Christina Lynn.

Halbert became an electrical contractor in 1979. He was the owner and operator of Richardson's Electric Company for more than 20 years. He was known as a man of great integrity. His work can be seen throughout the city of Winston-Salem and surrounding areas.

Halbert received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at 11 years old under his Pastor, Elder Curtis Cole. He was ordained as an Elder at Greater Faith Chapel Church Of God In Christ, under Pastor John McClurkin in 1982. He served faithfully in many capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, Pastor's Aide, Men's Department and Assistant Pastor. In 2000, Halbert and his wife began the ministry of Restoration Christian Fellowship Church. He established a foundation of prayer and spending time with God as a criteria to restoring lives and winning the lost. Another important tenet of Restoration's mission was community service and outreach. He used sermonic illustrations to paint a vivid picture to all who were in attendance. The ministry prospered under his leadership. Halbert was a humble servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He had an outgoing personality, great vision and an undying sense of humor. He could talk to anyone and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Elizabeth Richardson; brother, Bernard Ingram; and sister, Mildred Haygood.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years who stood by his side and cared for him during his illness, Violet Rochelle Scruggs; his children, Delisa (Keith) Stroman, Halbert, Jr., and Christina (Phillip) Sherrill; grandchildren, Maria Christine, Lauryn Jenae, Sarai Elizabeth, Isaiah O'Neal, and Christian Abram; brother, Reginald (Barbara) Richardson; three sisters, Beverly (Leon) Ross, Bernita (Larry) Herron, and Debra Renee Davis; a devoted brother in-law, Michael Scruggs; two aunts, Geneva Patterson and Lelia Bea Mills; a host of nieces, nephews, an abundance of spiritual children, Godchildren, and the Restoration Christian Fellowship Church family who adored their Pastor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Peters Church and World Outreach Center with Bishop JC Hash, Sr. Host Pastor, Apostle Ellis Smith officiating, and Bishop Daniel R. Coleman eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Church.
