With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ms. Gwendolyn "Big Gwen" Fleming, a beloved mother, devoted nurse, and a matriarch to her family. Gwendolyn was a mother of five; Gwendolyn Davis, Lester Fleming, Reginal Davis, Verna Davis, and the late but not forgotten Michelle Fleming. She devoted over 25+ years to Bayada Staffing where her compassionate care left an indelible mark on countless lives. She passed away peacefully at her home on July 29, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Gwendolyn was born on November 14, 1943 to Nathaniel Davis and Adlene Dubois.

In addition to her parents and daughter, Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her late but not forgotten siblings, Claudette Benton, Renita Fields, and Kenney Davis.

In addition to her children, she leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Patricia Davis-Anderson, Nathaniel Davis, Jr., Veronica Davis, and Giselle Stewart; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends all of whom were touched by her unwavering spirit, her holiday dinners, German chocolate cake, friendship cake, and gentle smile.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Khoury Thorpe officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Chapel.
