Mrs. Greta Cook Giles passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2021.  Mrs. Giles was born August 13, 1932 to Louis Herman Cook and Eleanor Sayres Cook in Buffalo, NY, where she spent her formal years before later moving to Dallas, TX with her family.

She attended St. Augustine University in Raleigh, NC where she met and married James Leon Giles, her husband of 68 years.  She later transferred and graduated from Texas College in Tyler, TX with a degree in Education.   Mrs. Giles taught at Hamilton Park School (Dallas, TX) for several years and the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.

Mrs. Giles worked and retired from AT&T after 18 years of service.  She later worked at Wonderland Academy (W-S, NC), where she assisted with the  daily operations of the daycare for several years before officially retiring.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Cook; mother, Eleanor Sayres Cook; brother, Robert Furch Cook; her husband, James Leon Giles; son, James Louis Giles; and grandsons, Armand Giles and Stephen Giles.

Mrs. Giles is survived by her children Mark Giles and Tara Giles; grandchildren, Cedric Reed, Langston Giles, Kameron Davis and Asira Giles; great-grandchildren, Kiana Reed, Ariana Reed, Zaria Reed, Aliah Reed, Laila Reed, Ezeriah Reed, Armand Miller, Ranier Miller, Riley Jackson-Giles, Zoe Giles, Amir Alexander-Giles, A'Gia Giles and Amari Giles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Family would like to thank Trellis Supportive Care for providing care during Mrs. Giles'  illness.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2021. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
