Gregory Lee Slade was born in Paterson, NJ on November 13, 1960. He attended Pulaski County High School, and then went into the United States Air Force. He later moved to Winston-Salem, NC in 1985.
He was preceded in death by his father, Whitfield Slade and his mother, Patsy Slade. He tragically departed this life December 12, 2021.
Gregory was an energetic, fun-loving, friendly, and caring person. No one was a stranger to him. He was a true, die-hard Wake Forest fan. He worked for the Winston-Salem Journal as a hawker, for over 10 years. He also worked for Elite Concrete and his boss Mark was his best friend. He loved working with the public and talking to everyone.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his son, Gregory Clinton of NJ; his sisters, Beverly Slade of Winston-Salem, Andrea Pack of Salisbury, and Jeaneane Ancrum Randolph (DeWayne) of NJ; his brothers, Ronald Slade, William Gibbons both of Winston-Salem and Paul Hinton of NJ; his stepmom, Ruth Johnson of NJ; his aunt, Opal Thomas; his close cousin, Greg Smith; longtime girlfriend, Gloria Butler Thomas; close family friends, Janis Gooding and Deanna Hull; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, December 20, 2021 at the Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests that you join them virtually on the Russell Funeral Home Facebook page as the service is live streamed beginning at 12noon on Tuesday!
Interment will be at 11:00am Monday, December 27, 2021 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
