Mr. Gonzlee Boston, 81, of 3111 Butterfield Dr. went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Gonzlee was born August 5, 1930 in Columbia, SC to the late Gonzlee Boston, Sr. and Lucinda Boston.
Gonzlee proudly served his country in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he went to work for RJ Reynolds and Wake Forest Baptist Medical center. After years of dedicated service, Gonzlee retired. During his retirement Gonzlee was well known in the city of Winston-Salem as "The Greatest Candy Apple Man Ever!"
He also enjoyed relaxing and fishing on open waters.
Gonzlee was a member of First Waughtown Baptist Church.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Carrie Boston. From their union they have five sons, Calvin Boston, Kenneth Tyron Boston, Sr., David Lee Boston, Charles Anthony Boston, and William Felix (Carolyn) Boston, all of Winston-Salem, NC; sixteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Henry Boston, Sr. of Winston-Salem and Conus Bonwell of Columbia, SC; one sister, Gloria Jean Boston of Winston-Salem; two sisters-in-law, Retcha (John) Higginbottom of Boston, MA and Lutherene Gleaton of Winston-Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:30am Thursday, September 8, 2011 at First Waughtown Baptist Church, 838 Moravia Street, Winston-Salem with Pastor Dennis Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Thursday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Gonzlee's memory to First Waughtown Baptist Church.
