Gloria Bitting Stinson, affectionately known as "Nana", was born to Andrew Bitting and Katherine Watts in Winston Salem, NC on December 27, 1935. She transitioned from this life and went home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2019.

She graduated from Atkins High School and entered Forsyth Tech School where she secured a certificate in graphic design. She then began working at Lucent Technology where she enjoyed 26 years of service. She went on to work more for 10 years with Sears. She enjoyed traveling all over the world, especially Orlando, FL.

Her many affiliations were the NAACP, President of North Hampton Community, President of the Nurses Board at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Prisoner Ministry and Just Friends Sharing.

She enjoyed 47 years of dedicated service at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memories and her legacy are her children, Robert D. Stinson, Jr. (Shirley), Christopher D. Stinson, Kathleen Stinson Jennings (Glendale), Beverly Stinson Ligons, and James L. Williams (Sandra);  her grandchildren, Chattrice Malachi, Chareka Crews, Robin Stinson, Nykia Ingram (Rahsaan), Robert D Stinson, Johnelle' Law (Terry), and Johnny Mack Ligons, Jr.; 11 great-grands; her brother, Ronald Bitting (Ester); and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thanks to her devoted grandchildren, Alexis and Mercedes Wilson who became her full-time nurses and cared for her daily until the end of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Dennis Leach officiating.  Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
