Obituary

Gloria Alacia Peoples Moore was born June 8, 1938 in Winston-Salem, NC to Ethel Peoples and Aggie Leon Rivers. On April 19, 2025 while in the care of The Oaks at Forsyth and Hospice Care she transitioned from this life and was surrounded in the love of family and staff.

Gloria grew up in Winston-Salem, NC. She graduated from Atkins High School, attended college, and started her family. She was the mother of three daughters, and she took great pride in raising her girls. She was a very hard worker and when determined to do something, quitting was never an option. She loved traveling and she visited many different states and countries. Cruising the Bahamas and a plethora of places was her all-time favorite mode of travel, accompanied by family and friends.

Gloria also enjoyed cooking for her family and baking. She shared her love with her community, family and friends through baking cakes.

Gloria accepted Christ as her Savior early in life and attended Spencer Memorial Christian Church as a child with her mother, Ethel and stepfather, Allen Gilreath. After returning home from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gloria returned to Spencer Memorial Christian Church where she was a devoted member. Attending church was not an alternative for her and her children. It was a way of life. She was a faithful member and she took her children to Sunday School and church. She served in different capacities and The Lambs for Christ Women's Club was her passion in serving.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Gilreath and Aggie Leon Rivers; sister, Armenthia Gilreath; grandson, Otis T. Myers, Jr.; grandmother, Francis Peoples; aunt, Sarah Griffin; and cousins, Shirley Peoples and John McLilly.

Left to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Ketitia Williams Myers, Constance Lorraine Williams, and Lisa (Darrell, Jr.) Herbin; her adopted grandson, Quentin D. Moore; a sister, Celeste Gilreath; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a faithful cousin, Francis Mobley; one niece, one nephew, and many other cousins, family members, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12:00noon on Friday at the Chapel.
