Gladys Victoria Jefferson Williams, 84, transitioned from earth to glory on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was a native of Mayesville, SC and has lived in Winston-Salem for 65 years. She was married the late Robert James Williams Sr. She was a member of Hanes Memorial CME Church for over 60 years and retired from Medical Park Hospital.

Survivors are her children: Robert (Dian), Keith (Faye) Williams of Greensboro, NC and Donald (Jerri) Williams of Winston Salem, NC; one sister, Mae Ellen Starks of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother-in-law, Henry (Eleanor) George of Granville, New York; seven grandchildren, Rolanda (Todd) Baldwin, Rochelle Williams, Akimme Williams, Tiffany (Barry) Gwyn, Robyn Williams, Donita Williams, KeAndre Williams and four great-grandchildren; one Godson Thurmond Simpson, Jr.; special cousins, Verna (Thurmond Sr.) Simpson and Ruth Belcher; play daughter Annie Liza Lancaster (Penny); nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Hanes Memorial CME Church, 819 Highland Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC with the Rev. Clarence Cox officiating. Family visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 11 am Saturday at the church.
