Heavenly angels descended on Christmas day and took home our beloved brother, father, uncle, and friend Gilbert R. Rorie. "Uncle Gilbert" as he was affectionately known to all who came in contact with him, was born December 5, 1933 to Dock and Susie Rorie and reared in W-S, NC all his life.

Gilbert Rorie attended the W-S/FCS, was employed in the food service industry, and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Uncle Gilbert spent the majority of his life living with his sister, Ollie Parker in which they became more than sister and brother; they were the best of friends. He was always available to lend a helping hand to his family and will be remembered for his infectious smile when he was called by the affectionate nicknames, "Sweet G", "Uncle G", and "The Doctor".

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Harvey; and brothers, Avery Dock Rorie, Charles Rorie, and Jack Rorie.

Left to cherish his most precious memories are one sister, Ollie Parker; one son, Donald Ray Grier; his favorite nieces, Tuwanna, Yvonne, Beverly, Jackie, and Valerie; one nephew, John; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Ann Dalton officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
