Mrs. Geraldine N. Moore was born January 8, 1939, to the late Ahminious Newkirk and the late Janie Newkirk in Atkinson, North Carolina. She was one of eight children all of whom preceded her in death, 4 brothers , Leonard, Clarence, Thomas and Marvin Newkirk; and 3 sisters, Sadie Watkins, Pauline Singleton and Etta Mae McIntyre.
Mrs. Moore attended and graduated from the Pender County Public Schools. She also a graduate of Cape Fear Technical College with a Nursing Degree. She was an LPN and she owned and operated the Moore's Retirement Home and G&D Quality Care after many years of nursing in other facilities. She was a member of the North Carolina Nursing Association and a very influential member of The Winston-Salem Minister's Wives Association. Geraldine was a former member and First Lady at the Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for 18 years.
Her late husband Rev. Dr. H. L Moore was the Pastor at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for those 18 years. Mrs. Moore and her husband were the founders of the Bibleway Baptist Church.
Mrs. Moore leaves not to mourn but to cherish her memories, 2 daughters, Mrs. Revenda Ann Mosley and Ms. Shaye Pridgen of the city; 3 sons, Henry (Linda) Pridgen, Terry Moore and Rev. Daryl Moore all of the city; one granddaughter, Kimberly (Korey) Dillon; 5 grandsons, Jernard Durham, Jeffrey Woods, Dr. Jenard (Destiny) Moore of Greensboro, NC, Henry Pridgen Jr. and Brian (MiEsha) Mosley of Arlington, VA; 12 great grandchildren; bonus brother, Lewis (Bernice) Watkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, August 8, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday at the Church.
