Obituary
On Saturday, September 29, 2007 , Co-Pastor Geraldine Miller Jones was summoned to her heavenly home from her residence, follow an extended illness. Geraldine was born in Winston-Salem , NC on October 25, 1945 to Taylor Cherry Miller, Sr. and Helen Hunt Miller.
She was a 1964 graduate of Atkins High School and Winsalem Business College . Following graduation from high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Bobbie A. Jones on July 4, 1964 . To the union, four children were born; Vallerie, Bobby, Jr., Michael and Anthony.
Geraldine was a faithful and dedicated employee of the City of Winston-Salem for over 30 years. She was the Fiscal Program Director for Work Force Development upon retirement in 1995.
Geraldine accepted her calling to the ministry in 1998, and served as the Co-Pastor alongside her husband at the Uncompromising Word Fellowship Church . In addition to her calling, she was a member of the UWF Mass Choir. Her personal philosophy was, "If I can help somebody as I pass along the way, then my living shall not be in vain."
She leaves to cherish the precious memories her husband of 43 years, Pastor Bobbie A. Jones, Sr.; children, Vallerie, Bobby, Jr. (Stephanie), Michael, and Anthony (Tiffany); a special family friend, Scottie Neil; grandchildren, KaRika, Shatarra, Michara, Janese, Alaysia, Michela, Gerrod, and Lauren; God-grandchildren, Dominique and Brianna Taylor; sisters, Deloris Mack, Gloria Sharp; a brother, Taylor Miller, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, October 4, 2007 from the Uncompromising Word Fellowship Church , 2800 East Sprague Street , Winston-Salem , NC 27107 with Pastor Fred Heath officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens . The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 2pm on Thursday at the Church.
The family wishes to send special thanks to Dr. Patricia Zekan and the Nursing Staff at Winston-Salem Healthcare, the Nursing Staff at Forsyth Medical Center, nurses, Natasha Miller, Chanda Miller, and the UWF Church Family, Russell Funeral Home and Friends far and near.
