On December 22, 2016, Mrs. Georgia S. Davis was called home to be with the Lord. She ran a gallant race, and her work here on earth is complete. She was born July 17, 1933 to James Stancil and Armelia Collins in Candor, NC.
Georgia grew up in Winston-Salem and worked at Forsyth Medical Center for 30+ years where she retired. With retirement not setting well with her, she went back to work at Wake Forest University.
Georgia was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and Senior Citizens Board. She was also involved with the Eastern Stars of Winston-Salem.
Georgia was a devoted wife, and a loving and caring mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Augusta Davis; and her daughter, Linda Faye Benson.
Throughout her life Georgia was always giving, and didn't mind correcting anyone. Her life was "service" and all those who came in contact with her, left knowing something they hadn't thought about or known.
Georgia is survived by her sons, Michael Stancil, James E. Davis, Emanuel (Wanda) Davis, Timothy W. Davis, and Rickey R. (Le'tatia) Davis; her daughter, Tanya (Howard) Patterson; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Stover of Winston-Salem, NC, Carolyn Foust of Richmond, VA, Ruby Stancil and Rosa Stancil both of Washington, DC, and Karen Stancil of Greensboro, NC; brother, Larry Foust of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
