Mr. George Arthur Warren Wright was born on September 2, 1958 and departed this life peacefully after a period of illness on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. He was the son of the late Lonnie S. Wright, Sr. and Queen Ann Brooks Wright.

At the early age of 5 under the leadership of his mother Queen A. Wright, he started playing the piano at Baldwin's Chapel in High Point, NC. After graduating from high school, he pursued his love of music for 40 plus years by playing the piano at a number of churches which included Baldwin Chapel, Seven Day Adventist Church, Macedonia Baptist Church, Tabernacle Faith Church, New Light Baptist Church, New Jerusalem Baptist Church, and Kimberly Park Holiness Church. His last tenor playing the piano was at Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he wrote several songs for the choir.

George was born in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from North Forsyth High school class of 1978. He met and married the love of his life, Ico Smith Wright, and from that union came 2 children.

George was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Senah Kaye Hale and Antoinette (Frances) Almeta Wright; and in-laws, Ruby Mae Smith and James Edward Key (Keno).

He leaves to cherish his memories his sisters, Charlene (Darryl) Gray of Baltimore MD, Queen Ann (Don) Byers and Karen Hannah of the city; brothers, Lonnie (Guinevere) Wright of Philadelphia PA, Calvin (Natali) Wright of Tampa FL, Robert (Tonya) Wright, Darryl (Anna) Wright, Charles Wright, Robert (Tonya) Smith, and Albert (Licia) Wright of the city; children, Arthur (Shakerra) Wright and Arthesha Wright; grandchildren, Ebony Davis, T-Arthur Wright, Ben- Arthur Wright, and Taylor Latesha McMillian; great-grandchildren, Josiah Johnson and Jaliyah Davis; God-mother, Aragatha Smith; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, February 11, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Saturday at the Church.
