Mr. George Washington Stinson, Jr., 84, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday November 22, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on March 30, 1926 to Rev. George, Sr. and Mary Rose Stinson. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and was employed at Hanes Knitwear (Hanesbrand) for 39 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris F. Stinson; three brothers, Whitfield Stinson, James Stinson, and Hubert Stinson; and three sisters, Evelyn Cade, Elizabeth Orr, and Rachel Stinson.
Mr. Stinson leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Shirley Flowers, Faela Bradley, and Teresa (Eli) Bradley, all of Winston-Salem; three sons, George (Hazel) Stinson, III, Brad (Carmen) Stinson, both of Winston-Salem and Frankie (Oreta) Stinson of Waldorf, MD; two sisters, Betty Foster of Winston-Salem and Mary Ann (Ted) Boone of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Robert Stinson and Lemuel (Beatrice) Stinson both of Winston-Salem; a devoted granddaughter, Tiana Bradley of Winston-Salem; 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon Friday at the chapel.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Cardiology Unit on the sixth floor at Forsyth Medical Center and the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their care and compassion.
