Obituary

August 14, 1923 God sent his angel down with a wonderful gift, George Wendell Jones to bless the Jones Family. On October 16, 2009 the potter plucked a beautiful flower and finished his bouquet.
Wendell was born to George Washington Jones and Minnie Bell Fulton Jones. He was the oldest of seven children. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 37.5 years of dedicated service. Wendell was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he was a musician for the church choirs. He offered his help wherever needed. He was a longtime member of the Red Rock Lodge #809 where he played for the male chorus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elsie; and two brothers, Cornell and John.
Wendell leaves to cherish precious memories his loving wife of 36 years, Mae Frances Richardson Jones; two devoted daughters, Andrea J. Leach and Adrian Renee May (Willie); four sons, George, Jr. (Lorraine), Bryan (Vicki), Ivan (Winifred), and Mark (Bridgette); ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hilda, Marion, and Shirley; four sisters-in-law, Fern, Gloria, Evelyn, and Barbara; four brothers-in-law, Kenneth, Larry, Bernard, and Bobby; one aunt, Neva Taylor; one uncle, Clifton Fulton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend I.L. Anthony officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12Noon until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.
